Web Notes is designed with a "Local-First" architecture. 100% of your notes, highlights, and metadata remain exclusively on your local machine using Chrome's encrypted storage. We do not use any external servers or databases to store your personal research.
2. Data Collection
The extension only stores content that you explicitly choose to capture through the on-page canvas or context menu. We do not track your browsing history, monitor your activities in the background, or collect any personally identifiable information.
3. No Third-Party Tracking
We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party cookies. Your research and data are your sovereign property and never leave your device unless you choose to export them manually.
4. Data Portability
You have full control over your data. You can use the "Export to Excel" feature at any time to create a backup of your personal library for archival or offline use.
5. Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the extension after changes means you accept the updated policy.
